About

reddo
(v.) /ˈred.doː/
[conjugation: 3rd conjugation]
1. I give back, return, restore.

After engaging with the many conversations that dominated last summer surrounding supporting small and BIPOC businesses, we took a huge first step towards implementing restorative economic justice within vulnerable communities. These crucial conversations happened to have unfolded alongside the devastating pandemic that has collectively changed our lives forever. Because we were confined to our homes all day, these conversations were happening primarily through social media. Instagram and Twitter served as huge tools in promoting businesses in need of attention and educating all of us on the importance of investing in minority communities. As conversations via Instagram Stories and the trending page on Twitter surrounding this subject began to lull, there was a clear need to create a standing platform that might better sustain the momentum from this summer. To address this need, Reddo is a site devoted to amplifying businesses deserving of attention; small, Black-owned, Indigenous-owned, and Latinx-owned businesses. Reddo is Latin for giving back and restoring, and this site acts as a vehicle for all of us to invest in deserving communities and amplify their voices with a standing, curated platform.
